Crews called to petrol can blaze at archaeological remains in Abbey Fields

Crews were called to a fire at the archaeological remains in Abbey Fields last night (June 13).
At around 6.30pm Kenilworth Fire Station was called to the blaze at the leisure centre works site, where a can of petrol had been set alight.
A service spokesperson said: "Just after 6:30pm this evening we were called to a fire in Abbey Fields.
"The incident involved one petrol can on fire on the site where the medieval walls are being investigated.
"The incident has been reported to the police."
No comment was made on whether any damage has been caused to the remains.
Warwick District Council recently confirmed to Nub News that a new design is being drawn up for the new leisure centre, to incorporate the remains discover under the old swimming pool.
