The town council has hailed an event to boost cycling across Kenilworth last weekend a "huge success".

On Saturday, Kenilworth Town Council held its Cycling Awareness Day, as part of its aim to get people - especially young people - out on two wheels.

The event featured bike security marking, bike maintenance checks, advice from local organisations and discounts from Mike Vaughan Cycles.

Local students were also given the chance to sign up for free road confidence courses, which will take place in August.

"Thank you to all who came along to support our Cycling Awareness Day on Saturday," a post from the council said.

"Despite the rain the day was a huge success!

"A few specials thanks go to our organisers Cllrs Alison Insley and Zoe Leventhal, to all local businesses who attended and donated prizes for our raffle and to Laura and Jason Kenny for donating our first prize in support of and to highlight the charity 'Cyclists Fighting Cancer'."

Winners of the raffle prizes - donated by local businesses - were announced on Tuesday.

  • Sarah - 1st prize - Team GB Kit Bag with four cycling jerseys from Cyclists Fighting Cancer - donated by Laura & Jason Kenney
