A Kenilworth councillor has once again been forced to ask for refurbishment works to start at a local park, some five years after the project was due to be finished.

Speaking at last week's Warwick District Council meeting, Cllr Richard Dickson asked for an update on the scheme at Glendale Avenue Park - "the smallest green space in the district".

"The largest green space in Kenilworth [Abbey Fields] is a building site at the moment so Glendale Avenue Park becomes important," he said.

"It was a park where the improvements were first proposed in November 2018, promised for delivery in May 2019.

"I wonder if we can have an explanation that I can provide residents for what appears to be the continued delay in the improvements to this park."

In response, portfolio holder for neighbourhood Cllr Will Roberts said works are now expected to take place in November 2024.

"This is taking a lot longer than we were hoping to have this in place," he said.

"The good news is that it is due to go out on tender next week."
