Local residents have been invited to a public meeting to learn more about possible tighter controls for HMO's.

Warwick District Council launched a consultation last month asking tenants, landlords and residents whether more HMO's should fall under an additional licencing scheme, which would require these types of properties to adhere to strict safety conditions and regulations.

The rule changes could potentially impact around 700 houses and flats across the district.

The council said the public meeting, to be held at The Pump Rooms in Leamington on Monday 27 February at 5.30pm, will give residents the chance to understand more about the proposals, ask any questions and take part in the consultation.

Cllr Jan Matecki, portfolio holder for housing, said: "An increase in the number of HMOs within the district warrants the need for us to revisit our licensing requirements and gain valuable input and feedback from those living in these properties, landlords and close neighbours.

"Please do come along to the event to learn more about these proposals – it offers the opportunity for you to ask questions and understand why it's important that you have your say, and that your voice is heard."

The consultation runs until 20 March 2023.

Attendance at the public event is by ticket only, with tickets available online.
