Following the success of last year's Kenilworth Advent Calendar, which raised over £13,000 for local causes, Kenilworth Rotary Club has brought the initiative back for 2023.

Now on sale, this year's calendar features an "extraordinary" photograph of the Northern Lights with Kenilworth Castle in the foreground taken by local landscape and wildlife photographer Nigel Wilkins.

As with last year, each calendar has 24 numbered doors - one for each day of advent - with a list of five prize winners behind each door, each corresponding to one of 3,500 calendars sold.

Yet again local businesses have rallied to support the fundraising project, with prizes totalling some £6,000 now up for grabs.

The 120 donations made to Kenilworth Rotary Club include free meals and drinks, cash prizes, family passes to Warwick Castle and jewellery.

Organiser said: "Kenilworth Rotary Club is delighted to announce that the Kenilworth Advent Calendar is now on sale.

"We’re selling in and around Talisman Square (could be Sainsbury’s or Waitrose as well as the square itself) from today until the 28 November.

"Your £5 will go towards one or other of Kenilworth’s charities, all aimed at helping local people.

"And with every copy, you’ll be buying what we hope you’ll agree is the best photo of the year: the Northern Lights behind Kenilworth Castle.

"When was the last time that happened?"

Locals can also get hold of a calendar at:

  • The Kenilworth Bookshop
  • The Tree House Bookshop
  • The Engine Inn
  • The Royal Oak
  • Boothroyd’s Estate Agents
  • the Kenilworth Centre
  • Waverley Centre
  • Talisman Theatre

Or you can get your copy online and delivered to your door (CV8 postcodes) for a small charge.

And this year there is even the option to buy a virtual calendar.

All the money will go to Kenilworth causes, including Myton Hospices, The Talisman Theatre, the Waverley Centre, Compassionate Kenilworth and the Kenilworth Centre.

Winning numbers will be listed daily on the dedicated website, on the Kenilworth Nub News website, on the noticeboard in Talisman Square and on the Rotary club website.
