A resident at a local care home was "delighted" when his wish to return to work aged 95 was made a reality.

When the team at Care UK's Priors House, on Old Milverton Lane, learned that Ted Procter was keen to revisit his old company, Procter and Chester Measurements (PCM) LTD, they were determined to make it happen.

Ted co-founded the Dalehouse Lane business in 1983, along with his good friend and business partner, Brian Chester.

Marking 40 years of success, Leamington resident Ted was keen to revisit the company he had helped to create and shape for six years and see how things had changed.

On the day, Ted was welcomed by Brian's son and current managing director of PCM, Gordon Chester, and given a tour of the site, as well as the opportunity to meet the current team.

Speaking of the experience, Ted said: "I really enjoyed the day going back to where I had many happy years and I was so pleased to see my surname is still being used in the company name.

"The company has changed a lot since I was there, but for the better as it continues to expand and grow. My tip for being successful in business to have ambition and aim high!"

The special visit was part of the home's Wishing Tree Initiative, which encourages residents to put wishes forward, allowing them to reconnect with a past hobby or try something completely new – from flying on a plane to enjoying a fish and chip supper, no wish is too big or small.

Francine Summers, home manager at Priors House, said: "When Ted shared that he was keen to revisit the company he co-founded 40 years ago, the team here at Priors House were excited to make it happen.

"Our Wishing Tree initiative is a wonderful way for residents to share their passions and ambitions and it's hugely rewarding to be able to make these a reality.

"Ted's always sharing stories from his time working for Procter and Chester Measurements LTD, so he was delighted to be able to go back and relive those fond memories.

"I'd like to extend a big thank you to the team here at Priors House, as well as to everyone at Procter and Chester Measurements LTD, for making Ted's day – he hasn't stopped smiling since!"

Priors House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
