A BBC star chef's pub in Henley-in-Arden will close, it has been confirmed today.

The Mount by Glynn Purnell will shut on Sunday 15 March, four years after opening.

The eatery said it was a "difficult decision" and based on "rising running costs" making the business "no longer financially viable".

Mr Purnell has already had to close his Michelin-starred restaurant in Birmingham.

A statement from The Mount said: "The Mount by Glynn Purnell in Henley-in-Arden will close its doors following its final service on Sunday 15 March 2026.

"The pub first opened on 30 March 2022 and has enjoyed four successful years serving the local community.

"The owners have taken the difficult decision to close the business.

"Rising running costs, increasing food prices and energy bills have made the pub no longer financially viable.

"Customers who hold vouchers are asked to contact thee pub directly to arrange a booking and redeem them before the final service on 15 March.

"The owners have confirmed that staff are being supported through the closure and that all suppliers will be paid."

The High Street pub is owned by Mr Purnell's millionaire business partner and friend Luke Fryer, 53. 

Mr Fryer and his wife Tania opened the pub in 2022 and hired Michelin star chef Purnell to run the kitchen.
