Local bands and performers are being invited to enter a 'battle of the bands' competition to be in with a chance of performing in front of thousands at a community beer festival next year.

Kenilworth Rugby Football Club is calling on artists to enter 'KENFEST Calling' ahead of the KENFEST beer festival next May.

The inaugural KENFEST event was held this April and was a big hit, with the bank holiday weekend event practically sold out.

The Glasshouse Lane club is already well underway for its preparations for the 2024 instalment, which will be held between May 3 and 5 2024.

And as part of this, the club is looking to organise live music and entertainment for the weekend.

"Calling all would-be KENFEST performers," organisers said.

"That's right, you could be performing in front of thousands at KENFEST 2024!

"All you need to do is register your interest to enter a Battle of the Bands style competition across four venues in Kenilworth, Coventry and Leamington.

"For the first time, KENFEST Presents… KENFEST Calling!"

HOW WILL IT WORK?

STAGE 1 – APPLY

Fill out the form and send the club your best track or video so they can have a listen.

Out of all the applications, the KRFC select 20 bands to battle it out in the live heats.

STAGE 2 – THE HEATS

There will be four initial heats taking place on each Friday in February. The venues and dates are:

  • 2 February @ The Sporting Ground, Gypsy Lane, Kenilworth
  • 9 February @ The St Patrick's Club, Adelaide Road, Leamington Spa
  • 16 February @ The Sports & Social Club, Upper Rosemary Hill, Kenilworth
  • 23 February @ The Maudsley, Allesley Old Road, Coventry

Two bands from each heat will go through to the Semi Final

STAGE 3 – THE SEMI FINALS

The venue for the semis is still to be confirmed but they will be held on 15 and 16 March 2024.

Two bands from each semi final will go through to the first-ever KENFEST Calling Final at the HMV Empire!

STAGE 4 – THE FINAL

This will take place on Friday 29 March at the HMV Empire in Coventry!

"That's right, just by reaching the final you could be playing at the same venue that has welcomed the likes of The Enemy, Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender and many more," organisers added.

"So, what are you waiting for?! Come and showcase your music to a whole new audience and compete for the chance to win a slot on the HMV stage at KENFEST plus a day recording at Woodbine Studios!"

And tickets are already on sale for KENFEST 2024, with early-bird tickets available until Friday.
