A Balsall Common man has admitted sending grossly offensive emails to MP Suella Braverman.

Jagjivan Ram, 65, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Malicious Communications Act and apologised at Birmingham Magistrates' Court this week.

He was ordered not to contact the former Home Secretary and will be sentenced on April 22.

The businessman sent emails on separate dates in June 2024 to the then Conservative MP which were "of an indecent or grossly offensive nature for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety" to her.

Ram, from Waste Lane, Balsall Common, was granted bail.

The content of the emails was not made public in court this week.

Ram told the court his career was now over saying: "I was not aware in any detail why I was sending it... from a moral perspective, that's not me."

He told the court that it meant that his career was now over.
