Developers have revealed plans to build hundreds of homes on Knowle's green belt.

The Solihull village is set to grow with developers wanting to build new homes there and now it has emerged a new unnamed applicant has plans to build a new estate of around 250 to 300 homes on current agricultural land off Kenilworth Road.

An outline planning application is yet to be submitted but the initial plans have been published for the homes which would be a mix of market and affordable housing.

A concept masterplan has been submitted to Solihull Council providing details of how the land could be developed.

And in a letter submitted to the authority Delta Planning – a town planning and development consultancy company acting on behalf of developers – write: "The site is immediately adjacent to the built-up area of Knowle with existing residential development to the south and west.

"Knowle is a large semi-rural settlement with a wide range of shops and services on the high street, offices providing local employment and community facilities including both secondary and primary schools, community halls, a park and GP facilities.

"The site has been promoted through the Solihull local plan process for a number of years.

"The proposals incorporate a significant component (some six hectares) of infrastructure in the form of new areas of public open space potentially including playing fields, ecological habitat, sustainable drainage features and a canal side walk/cycleway.

"There is also a potential opportunity to provide coach turning facilities and off street car parking on Kixley Lane to help relieve the existing congestion issues associated with Knowle Primary Academy."

The developers have submitted a request to Solihull Council planners to confirm if the proposed development would require an environmental impact assessment before an outline planning application is formally put forward.
