Four men have been issued with fines for breaching Covid-19 guidelines in Kenilworth this weekend.

Officers from Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police unit issued fines to the men on Saturday (February 20) night after their vehicle was stopped regarding insurance details.

Whilst the insurance turned out to be in order it was discovered that the four men were passing through Kenilworth on their way from Wolverhampton to Leamington Spa.

As such, fines were issued to all four.

A police statement on Facebook said: "We had a car drive past us with four adult males inside and a quick check raised some questions on the insurance.

"Vehicle was stopped and whilst the insurance was found to be in order all four males had come from Wolverhampton to visit someone in Leamington.

"All four have been fined for a clear breach of the lockdown - this is how the virus spreads.

"Whilst there is hope with the vaccine we are not out of this yet and we all must continue to play our part and stay home."
