Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) is encouraging the residents of Kenilworth to get a test at one of the county's community testing sites for Covid-19.

Firefighters in the county have been volunteering and helping to run a number of testing centres, including Kenilworth's closest - the Adult and Community Learning Site, Pound Lane, Lillington, Leamington, CV32 7RT.

The Pound Lane centre is open from 8am to 8pm Monday and 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.

Community testing centres are set up to test people without Covid-19 symptoms (asymptomatic) in Warwickshire using lateral flow antigen testing.

The aim of testing people who do not have Covid-19 symptoms is to protect those most at risk, using rapid testing to speed up the process.

A Lateral Flow Test (LFT) detects the presence or absence of coronavirus by applying a swab or saliva sample to the device's absorbent pad. The sample runs along the surface of the pad, showing at the end a visual positive or negative result dependent on the presence of the virus.

Tests can be booked by following this link.

WFRS have said: "By getting tested, you are helping to play your part by breaking the chain of transmission and reducing the spread of Covid-19. Together we are making a difference!"

Warwickshire County Council is encouraging those who have to work away from home, or regularly come into contact with others to book a weekly test.

Occupational groups recommended for testing during lockdown include:

- Essential shops; supermarkets; financial services

- Early years; childcare; education

- Food production; food processing

- Manufacturing; warehousing; packing; distribution

- Transportation

- Essential public sector services (e.g. waste, Police, security)

- Construction; utilities; communication

- Agency worker

- Health or social care

Tests can be booked by following this link.
