Woman loses 45kg at local gym - 'transformation built on consistency'
By James Smith 18th Mar 2026
A member at Fitness Worx Gym is inspiring others across Warwickshire after losing an incredible 45kg through a sustainable approach to fitness, nutrition and personal training.
Rachel's journey is about far more than weight loss.
Over time she has built strength, confidence and long-term habits that are helping her live a healthier lifestyle.
A Sustainable Approach to Weight Loss
Rather than relying on extreme diets or quick fixes, Rachel focused on a plan she could realistically maintain.
By sticking to around 1,600 calories per day, she created a steady calorie deficit and lost one to two pounds per week consistently.
Fitness Worx said this gradual and controlled approach helped her achieve lasting results while building healthy habits she can continue long into the future.
The Impact of Personal Training
A key part of Rachel's transformation was the support she received through personal training.
Having a coach provided structure, accountability and expert guidance throughout her journey.
Personal training helped Rachel:
- Follow a structured programme tailored to her goals
- Improve exercise technique and avoid injury
- Progressively increase strength
- Stay accountable when motivation was low
- Learn sustainable nutrition and lifestyle habits
Rather than simply training harder, Rachel learned how to train smarter.
From Couch to 5K
When Rachel first started, running wasn't part of her routine.
She began with the popular Couch to 5K programme, gradually building her fitness and confidence.
Over time she progressed to running a full 5km and eventually achieved a sub-30 minute 5K, something that once seemed impossible.
Strength Gains Along the Way
Rachel's transformation wasn't just about losing weight — she also became significantly stronger.
Her progress included:
- Barbell Squat: increasing from 30kg sets to 90kg
- Hack Squat: improving from 10kg to 80kg with full depth
These improvements reflect stronger muscles, better technique and a more resilient body.
A Lifestyle Change That Lasts
Rachel says the biggest difference was having structure and support throughout her journey.
"Losing 45kg still feels surreal to say out loud," she explained.
"When I started, I just wanted to feel better in myself.
"I never imagined I'd be squatting 90kg or running a sub-30 minute 5K.
"Personal training gave me confidence in the gym and kept me accountable. This hasn't been a quick fix — it's a full lifestyle change. I feel stronger, healthier and happier than ever."
Rachel trained at Fitness Worx in Stratford-upon-Avon, but the gym group now has nine locations across Warwickshire, helping members achieve similar life-changing results through structured training and expert coaching. It has sites in Kenilworth, Warwick and Leamington Spa.
Rachel's story shows that with consistency, guidance and the right environment, transformations are possible for anyone willing to start the journey.
