Kenilworth's Mayor Cllr Richard Dickson will now be reaching out to the people of the town through his monthly column with Nub News.

This month Richard's column comes in the form of a video message, and as we reach the end of 2020 he has been looking back at the year.

The video is embedded at the top of this page, and Richard's words can be seen below.

Being in Kenilworth in 2020 - being anywhere in our country in 2020 - has been very different to before.

Life has changed completely. All that we had taken for granted seems now to have been based on sand.

COVID-19 has challenged everything that we once held important.

Knowing that the virus affected everyone in some way has made things very difficult.

Looking around Kenilworth, however, I do see much cause for hope.

I see our great sense of community, creativity and culture. Values like these are what helps us get through this COVID-19 crisis.

Everyone now seems to live in a different way focussing on what's really important. Seeing the world and all its different people in a very different light.

May 2021 therefore be different to these past nine months. A year when we'll find peace with ourselves, with one another and with the world around us.

Thank you for what you are doing to make Kenilworth such a special place to live and work in and to visit. Thank you especially for what you are doing to help people get through this COVID-19 crisis.

Enjoy this Christmas as much as you can.

Remember, it won't always be like this, it is going to get better.
