West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses of a hit-and-run on Kenilworth Road last week.

Police have said "A 28-year-old motorcyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit on Kenilworth Road at about 6pm on Saturday 19 October.

"The force of the impact knocked the rider off his Yamaha bike and he collided with a bus travelling in the opposite direction.

"From officers' scrutiny of CCTV footage and the debris left at the scene we believe the car was a black VW Golf GT model year between 2014 and 2016. Although the parts could have been fitted to a slightly different model as part of an upgrade or re-fit.

"We're asking anyone who may have seen a Golf with a panel and fog light missing from the front nearside or has recently been repaired to get in touch with detectives."

Det Sgt Paul Hughes, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "this was an appalling collision which has left a man very seriously injured in hospital.

"We want to track down the driver, who must have realised what had happened but instead of doing the right thing and stopping, decided to drive away.

"So I'm appealing for anyone who's seen maybe a neighbour's car with similar damage or realised that a car hasn't been parked in its usual spot for the last few days, to let us know.

"Also I'd ask anyone in the motor trade who has recently been asked to repair a similarly damaged car or has been asked for similar parts to get in touch."

If you have any information contact West Midlands Police, quoting log 3296 of 19 October, via Live Chat on their website, 8am to midnight, call 101 any time or email [email protected].

To remain completely anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
