Police appeal after teenage girl approached by 'suspicious' man whilst waiting for bus in Kenilworth
Police are appealing for witnesses to a "suspicious incident" after an unknown man approached a teenage girl at a bus stop in Kenilworth.
The girl was waiting for a bus outside St John's Church on Warwick Road when the man pulled up in his car and offered her a lift.
Warwickshire Police is trying to ascertain whether any criminal offences actually occurred.
Following the incident, which occurred around 12.30pm on Monday, December 27, the local safer neighbourhood team will be carrying out more patrols in the area.
Police were not notified about the incident until New Year's Eve.
A Warwickshire Police statement: "We are aware of a suspicious incident last week where a teenage girl reported she was waiting at the bus stop outside St John's Church on Warwick Road when a man unknown to her pulled up in a car, engaged her in conversation and offered her a lift.
"We are carrying out enquiries to identify the driver and establish whether any criminal offences have occurred.
"The incident occurred at around 12.30pm on Monday 27 December and was reported to us on Friday (31 December). Anyone with information that could help with our enquiries should call 101 quoting incident 79 if 31 December.
"The local safer neighbourhood team are aware of the incident and will be carrying out focused patrols in the area."
