Kenilworth Ladies Circle have begun their fundraising for Guide Dogs for the Blind this week, by launching their Big Kenilworth Paw Patrol event.

Running all week until Sunday 23 August, Kenilworth residents will be able to follow a trail of clues around the town to help raise money for charity, and be in with the chance of winning a mystery prize.

Participants are invited to follow a trail, and spot the 22 hidden characters in windows across the town. Just find the letters to complete the mystery phrase.

Once you have completed the phrase, you have until Friday 28 August to submit your answer to be in with a chance of winning!

Why Guide Dogs for the Blind?

Each new Chair of Kenilworth Ladies Circle choses a charity to sponsor for the year, with Guide Dogs for the Blind being the current recipient.

When asked why she came to this decision, current Chair Loren Cowling said "There were so many amazing charities, I really struggled!

"They [Guide Dogs for the Blind] have a big presence locally, and I love dogs; the fact a dog can really enhance someone's life really makes me happy. They truly are a mans best friend.

"And I know, like other charities at the moment, they are struggling for donations as a lot of their events have had to be cancelled, so this makes this year even more important for fundraising!"

Guide Dogs for the Blind is one of the world's largest charities dedicated to breeding, and training working dogs.

With up to 70 per cent of visually-impaired adults receiving no support within twelve months of diagnosis, and the number of young people in the UK with vision impairment rising, any support and donations from the public are valued greatly.

Further fundraisers to follow

The Big Kenilworth Paw Patrol is the first of many events planned by the Ladies Circle for the coming months.

In September they are planning to host a small arts festival, and then a 24-hour 'danceathon' in November, with plenty more events scheduled for the next year.

Ladies Circle member George Morgan said "Our aim is to raise £5k for the Guide Dogs. If we hit this target, we can name a puppy."

At the time of writing, the JustGiving page set up for the current event has already received over £500 in donations.

If you would like to participate in the event please email [email protected] to register, and receive your trail map, and then visit the JustGiving page to make your donation.

The suggested minimum donation is £2, but if people are able to contribute more than this, then that will be greatly appreciated.
