A Kenilworth theatre has cancelled the rest of its Christmas pantomime performances as cast members have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Talisman Theatre has cancelled the final three shows of Puss In Boots, its first production for over 20 months.

The Barrow Road theatre had already cancelled performances between December 22 and 28 due to cast members testing positive, but had expected to return to stage in time for the new year dates.

However today (December 29) it was confirmed that the production would not return to the stage to complete the run.

Ticket holders will be contacted and refunded.

A theatre statement said: "We're so disappointed to have to cancel remaining performances of Puss in Boots as several cast members are Covid positive.

"Ticket holders have been contacted and will receive a full refund.

"Many, many people had worked hard to create a fantastic pantomime for our audiences to enjoy. We're grateful to everyone who was part of 'Talispanto' this year."

The Talisman's annual pantomime returned to the stage this December having been a remote performance due to the pandemic in 2020.

As well as preparing the show volunteers had also spent time cleaning the theatre and making it Covid safe for the return of audiences.
