Conservatives claim seat in Kenilworth St John's by-election
Richard Spencer has been elected as the new town councillor for Kenilworth St John's Ward today, meaning that the Conservative Party now has three seats on the council.
Cllr Spencer received 901 votes in an election which had a turnout of 49 per cent. Alison Insley took the second most votes (670), on behalf of the Liberal Democrats.
Cllr Spencer was also elected to Warwickshire County Council for the first time on Friday.
The vacancy came after the resignation of Liberal Democrat Jack Worrall in February. Cllr Spencer will now join Cllrs Samantha Cooke, Richard Dickson and Andrew Milton (all Liberal Democrats) in St John's Ward.
