A talented photographer has shown off his stargazing images taken so far this year.

Josh Dury, 27, captures cosmic wonders from various locations around the UK.

His work this January includes an incredible picture show both the Moon and Venus, and another featuring six planets and the Moon.

Josh, from Compton Martin, Somerset, said: "The "planetary conjunction" occurred between the moon and the planet Venus on 3rd January. These are close encounter events in astronomy.

"The planetary parade was photographed on 2nd January. It captures six planets of the solar system and the Moon. This was three wide-angle shots generated as a panorama.

"Both these events were photographed from the Mendip Hills in Somerset.

"The final photograph was captured from the Harold's Stones in South Wales on New Year's Day. Whilst photographing the northern lights, the SAR (Stable Aurora Red) Arc was visible, which is a glowing red arc of light that appears in the sky during geomagnetic storms."
