Job Summary The Industrial & Commercial Heating Equipment Association ( ICOM ), is a member organisation working to engage in all aspects of energy related business activities, working closely with government, non-governmental offices, research establishments and industry trade associations towards a greener future. ICOM is a division of the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA).The Manufacturers of Equipment for Heat Networks Association ( MEHNA ), is a member organisation working to engage in all aspects of Heat Networks and District Heating related business activities, working closely with government, non-governmental offices, research establishments and industry trade associations towards a greener future. MEHNA is a division of the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA). We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Technical Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will help lead the work programme of ICOM & MEHNA member groups. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, but prior knowledge / experience of specific details of non-domestic heating industry issues is not a pre-requisite for becoming Technical Officer; EUA offers training and support by the ICOM & MEHNA Director and EUA colleagues. Responsibilities Set meeting agendas by gaining agreement with the chair of each group and send papers for discussion in good time for the planned meeting dates. Attend group meetings when needed either in person or via video conference and take notes to produce minutes following the meeting for circulation. Support inclusive management of ICOM & MEHNA group members in order to build consensus within the group. Help guide the technical discussions and work between meetings as required to gain technical knowledge. Share knowledge and experience on various industry issues through feedback to member bases. Monitor and populate the ICOM & MEHNA websites to ensure the information is correct and up-to-date. Understand and adhere to EUA protocol for planning and conducting group meetings. Ensure that group members do the same and to raise any concerns with the ICOM & MEHNA Director or other designated contact point. Register with relevant industry bodies and attend their meetings or undertake training sessions applicable to the role, in person or online, as needed. Help support the diversity, inclusion, sustainability / continuity and viability of ICOM & MEHNA by: Supporting the Director to ensure that the membership base is regularly reviewed and reflects a variety and balance of members who can determine the needs of the non-domestic heating industry. When participating in group meetings doing so in an inclusive and impartial way that demonstrates equal respect for all members and ensure all voices are heard. Helping to retain existing and identify and attract new association members, especially to fill gaps in knowledge / experience. Build and maintain close and effective working links with the ICOM & MEHNA Director, allied organisations and the membership bases. Join meetings online (e.g. via WebEx, Zoom or M S Teams) or at specific venues in the UK or Europe including hybrid meetings as required and agreed. Have access, and all allied documentation for business use, to a vehicle for transport to meetings throughout UK when required. Be accessible / responsive between meetings within reasonable and pre-agreed (e.g. with the ICOM & MEHNA Director) timeframes.NOTE: Reimbursement expenses are applicable for travel from your place of work, overnight accommodation where necessary and subsistence when away from your place of work. Skills/knowledge/Experience _ Essential _ Communication skills, Leadership / people management skills, Organization and time-management skills, Ability to respond to / manage unexpected circumstances, Ability to remain objective / neutral when dealing with enquiries from members and providing feedback, Understanding of non-domestic heating industry. Computer literacy including using document management systems, sending emails, running online meetings, using word processing and spreadsheet software, website admin formatting._ Desirable _ Previous experience of participating in group meetings and following up on actions. If not already a member of industry groups, general knowledge / understanding of the sector / field relevant to the ICOM & MEHNA's work. Some understanding of how to build consensus amongst diverse points of view. IT Equipment _ Essential _ Access to a reliable and fast internet connection. An area where online video meetings and concentrated work can be carried out without distracting interruptions. A printer to copy documents when working away from Camden House office. All other IT equipment and phone will be supplied and issued by EUA.
